Jesus addresses this issue in The Urantia Book using the word sympathy, and empathy is a word that can mean sympathy, sensitivity, and a sense of fellow feeling for another. In his ordination speech Jesus talked about the importance of sympathy. Even though he talked particularly about the importance of sympathy in men and boys, showing tenderness towards others is evidence of a courageous spirit for all of us. “Being sensitive and responsive to human need creates genuine and lasting happiness, while such kindly attitudes safeguard the soul from the destructive influences of anger, hate, and suspicion.”  Read more
