Q: Are Satan and Lucifer the same person? Was Satan / Lucifer the twin of the Angel Michael?
A: Thank you very much for your note to us at TruthBook.com. The question you ask is an important one, as there is a lot of confusion in the world about these forces of darkness.
I will be directing you to a few links on our site which will clear up any confusion you may have. But the short answer to your first question is as follows:
Satan and Lucifer are not the same entity. In addition, they are not angels. They are quite different personalities, but they did join forces with the “devil” to upset the spiritual progress of our planet.
On our site, you can find a topical study about Satan HERE, and also a study about “the devil, ” HERE. Again, these are two distinct personalities.
When you click on these links, you will find even more links and more information regarding Urantia Book teachings about these beings.
The belief that Michael is an archangel is a misconception. Michael is a universe name—a title—and the universe order to which our sovereign Son, Jesus, belongs. He is a “Michael Son.” He is, and always was, a mighty force for goodness, however, and it is easy to see how the confusion arose during the times of the writing of Scripture.
To read more about Michael of Nebadon, also known to us as Jesus of Nazareth, please go HERE.
I believe that if you care to investigate this reply thoroughly, using the links I have provided, you will come away with a whole new understanding of the meaning of of the “forces of darkness—” their original missions, their unfortunate and sweeping defections from goodness and morality, the effects of those defections on our world, and the ultimate fate of these evil beings.
Again, thank you so much for writing to us with these questions. At Truthbook.com, we are dedicated to furthering and sharing the matchless teachings of The Urantia Book, from which all of these answers are taken.
