You asked: The Urantia Book doesn’t appear to be accessible to most readers. The book uses language that is both antiquarian and invented. I just don’t see why these angels and messengers had to use language that most people can’t understand? For example, compare the Tao Te Ching with the Urantia Book. One will find a language (in the former) that is simple and clear, whilst the latter is too hard to understand.
Thanks for this question about The Urantia Book.
First, is it the fault of the revelators that most people can’t understand the language or is it the fault of education? I think it’s more indicative of a lack of quality education. The Bible was inaccessible to the majority of people for about 1500 years, yet it was the fountainhead for the development of Western civilization, for music, art, and for literature. The antiquarian and invented language connects us with the values of the past, which can quickly fade away if not renewed, and the invented words provide new ways of working with new concepts the book contains. Perhaps The Urantia Book isn’t intended for everyone, but is aimed at those who have the mental capacity to accept and appreciate its message; they would be the ones to interpret its message into new forms of civilization, music, art, and literature for the benefit of future generations.
The Tao Te Ching is a human attempt to bring order to chaos, to help humans develop a meaningful understand of existence. The Urantia Book is a divine attempt at doing a similar thing. It’s not necessary to choose one over the other.
