Thanks for your note. Good question!
The Urantia Book is an epochal revelation. Epochal revelations are meant to help us for a long time – one thousand years or more. So, while it is tempting to want this revelation to have an impact quickly, it may not be as quick as we’d like it to be. If you look at just the nature of Christianity as it has evolved in the 2000 years since Jesus was here, it’s easy to see that it still contains glaring errors that will take centuries (in my opinion) to be corrected. Like the atonement doctrine, for example. Those original teachings of Jesus that have been restated in The Urantia Book have to seep into our civilization. And the Christian churches themselves have to be revamped to allow for true religion – the religion of personal spiritual experience that Jesus taught and practiced. This has to eventually override iron-clad dogma and centuries of “tradition.”
The cosmology of the book may have a better chance to make a difference sooner, just because of the science we have now – the telescopes, for example, that let us see how The Urantia Book can be validated through the things we see “out there” in the universe.
The Urantia Book has been here only since 1955 in book form – that’s only a little over 60 years. I do have a lot of hope, though. There have been tens of thousands of downloads of the book. Many scholarly and science-minded people are writing great books and great articles that are slipping into the mainstream. The Urantia Book has a significant presence on social media, where thousands of souls are discussing it in real time. And, there are those who preach and teach the truths of the gospel of the Kingdom as Jesus taught it.
The best thing we can all do is live the truths as best we can where we are and as we are. And to do that, we just have to keep loving one another, being kind to one another, worshiping God, and seeking to do his holy will. We know that one day the truths of Jesus’ bestowal will rule this very world. His teachings will prevail, and this revelation will not fail. So, even if we don’t get to see it ourselves, we are assured that the day will come.
