Q: How Will I meet My Family Members if I Sleep For 1000 years?
A: I can understand your concern—that if you or another of your family were destined to be a sleeping survivor, how would you meet those who have resurrected in three days? Reason would tell us that those who resurrected in three days would be long gone by the time the sleeping survivor arrives on the shores of Mansonia. But keep in mind that the only time-frame we can use is that which we know as Urantia mortals.
From my reading of The Urantia Book, it is my understanding that the majority of Father-indwelt mortals are very likely to be counted among those who resurrect in three days. But once on the spheres of Mansonia, it is impossible to reckon how much time (in Urantia terms) must pass before the ascender is released to go on to other worlds. For all we know, it could take hundreds of Earth-years (or thousands) before we pass through even the first Mansion World. In that case, you would certainly be able to see those who went before you…
The following passage may give you some comfort, as it does me:
113:1.8 When a mortal mind breaks through the inertia of animal legacy and attains the third circle of human intellectuality and acquired spirituality, a personal angel (in reality two) will henceforth be wholly and exclusively devoted to this ascending mortal. And thus these human souls, in addition to the ever-present and increasingly efficient indwelling Thought Adjusters, receive the undivided assistance of these personal guardians of destiny in all their efforts to finish the third circle, traverse the second, and attain the first.
The fact that you are reading The Urantia Book, and can even ask such a thoughtful question says to me that you have broken “through the inertia of animal legacy…” The amount of time that the authors spend on instructing us about the seraphic guardians, again, says to me that the reception of a guardian angel is pretty much a given for sincere faith-sons of God. (Please see the whole of Paper 113 )
I may be wrong, of course—I don’t know any more than you do—but I believe that we would not have been given so much comforting knowledge about personal angelic service unless most of us were eligible for that service. It is certainly an achievement to strive for in any event!
Try to put your mind at rest about this worry…work diligently at your spiritual growth and help those you love to do the same. And in the end, when you go to the sleep of death—whether it is three days or one thousand years—you will know that you have done your best, and that you can expect the best. And I suspect that even if you (or I) do sleep for one thousand years, that provision will be made for us to reunite with our loved ones, if that is of prime concern to us.
Thanks for this question, and I hope that my reply has been helpful to you.
