A: Thanks for your note about paranormal experiments. Since you have written your question to our site, which is dedicated to the teachings of The Urantia Book , I did a search for the word "paranormal" on our site and came up empty. I did, however, find a Wikipedia entry HERE
The paranormal seems to be concerned mainly with ghostly sightings and manifestations, UFOs, and extraterrestrials. The website that I gave you will probably tell you all you need to know on this subject regarding experiments and so forth....
The Urantia Book deals with God, with spiritual reality, with the history of creation, the history of our planet (Urantia) and the life and teachings of Jesus. While it teaches that we are not alone in the universe, we are also told that there is no such thing as ghosts—spirits that return to earth after death. And the only extraterrestrials we are told about are spiritual personalities. We are told about life on other planets, but nowhere in The Urantia Book are we told that extraterrestrials (other than spiritual beings, such as angels) visit the earth. The UFO phenomenon are certainly interesting, but The Urantia Book is silent on this subject.
There are mysterious things that happen on such a planet as ours—I don't pretend to be able to understand such things, and I cannot offer an explanation of whatever it is that they are experiencing in their home.
My simple advice to you is to pray and stay close to God—to pursue true reality in your lives. There is nothing in the whole universe that is not known to God, nothing that is not under his affectionate watchcare, and nothing that is stronger than God, or of equal power. So, if you or your family are experiencing something that is frightening or upsetting—something that you feel is beyond your control, lay it at God's feet and pray for deliverance and wisdom. Do not allow fear to find a foothold in your lives. Instead, cultivate a strong faith in the goodness of God.
The Urantia Book teaches us that we live in a friendly universe. It may be helpful to you to consider this quote from Jesus:
If Jesus could have this attitude, then I believe that we who love him can also adopt his way of thinking.
133:1.4 "I am absolutely assured that the entire universe is friendly to me—this all-powerful truth I insist on believing with a wholehearted trust in spite of all appearances to the contrary.”
Thanks again for you note to Truthbook.com. I hope that my reply is helpful to you."
