The Urantia Book says that anger is " like a stone hurled into a hornet’s nest." Jealousy and greed may be offshoots of fear—fear of not having enough. And fear is called a "master fraud"—we know that fear is the opposite of love, which has no fear. All of these destructive emotions can be overcome by pursuing spiritual growth.
The Urantia Book teaches:
If you are having trouble controlling your own anger, greed or jealousy, seeking for God and his will in your life will help you to overcome; if you are troubled by any of these negative emotions in others, living in the Spirit will help you apply the fruits of the Spirit as a defense against those who would infect you by their unspiritual attitudes. The best response to any of these harmful attitudes is love, goodness, and positive, merciful ministry. Prayer also is a powerful response which keeps us close to God when dealing with unpleasant emotion.99:5.6 Any religious belief which is effective in spiritualizing the believer is certain to have powerful repercussions in the social life of such a religionist. Religious experience unfailingly yields the 'fruits of the spirit' in the daily life of the spirit-led mortal.
193:2.2 "And the fruits of the divine spirit which are yielded in the lives of spirit-born and God-knowing mortals are: loving service, unselfish devotion, courageous loyalty, sincere fairness, enlightened honesty, undying hope, confiding trust, merciful ministry, unfailing goodness, forgiving tolerance, and enduring peace."
