Home Life Challenges Personal journeys Evangelism

Q: If you were to be a Urantia Book street evangelist what would be your message. And if you had a little brochure to pass out what would it say? The Urantia Book is a breath of fresh air to my soul.

A:  The Urantia Book is indeed a breath of fresh air to so many, me included...

First of all, I want to tell you about a website that has many, many brochures and pamphlets about The Urantia Book that you can print yourself and then run some copies...Go to THIS LINK , and look on the left for Handouts and Documents.

And while you're there, you might have a look at the ministry that's being done at a university in Colorado. It might be something you could do, also...it is mostly about familiarizing people with the book—with the word URANTIA—a brochure...and who knows what fruits that might bring...? The idea is to set up a table in a public place (with permission, if needed) with some Urantia Book literature and see who drops by. You don't have to go to a university...maybe just a public park will be a good place to start...

Once someone is there at your display, you can just be very friendly and inquire whether they know the book at all...you'll know soon enough who is receptive and who is likely not. And you'll have your brochures to offer to interested persons. And also, feel free to give them our website address, too.

I have no idea how one becomes a street evangelist, but maybe this kind of ministry might qualify for you—or some variation of it. I can understand why someone who has been profoundly affected by truth would want to tell everyone about it, and help others find it, too...

I can't tell you how to evangelize. But, I expect your own words, describing your own experiences with the truths of The Urantia Book—and with God—will be the most powerful witness you can give.

Here's some good advice from Jesus, the best evangelist of all: Instruction for Teachers and Believers and "As Jesus Passed By"—I would read-and re-read these carefully. They will help you develop a good style when dealing with others...wonderful ideals worth striving for.

Thanks again for writing. You sound like a soul on fire, even as it is being watered and refreshed by the Spirit. I wish you success—if you decide to try a street ministry, and even if you don't. God bless you!
