should be interesting to see how the paleo scientists take to this new find:

Humans May Have Occupied North America 100,000 Years Earlier Than Thought

the authors know it's a paradigm shift and seem well prepared for a fight!

Makalu, how cool is that? Yet another truth of the book slowly coming to light.

yeah slowly...but even if all this does is get more archeologists to entertain the notion of digging deeper in the americas it will be erm groundbreaking (groan)

thought this was interesting not so much because it pushes back any population dating a few thousand years but because it pushes back the use of bows and arrows by native americans about 10,000 years. recall TUB says they invented the bow and arrow before leaving asia.

Gault site research pushes back date of earliest North Americans

H and I in the photo are stemmed arrowheads...

Vachula and colleagues identified fecal stanol profiles consistent with the periodic presence of humans in the vicinity of the lake from about 31,000-22,000 years ago. After 18,000 years ago, which happens to coincide with greater archaeological visibility of human occupation throughout Alaska, the biomarkers indicate a consistent presence of humans in the region.

31kya is a big bump back. it's a stretch to consider the brooks range in interior alaska any part of berengia though...they do that because the berengia model still lives in their minds. even though if this really was part of the now submerged land bridge and a berengia standstill did happen the markers would show the amount of human presence the reverse of what the study does. anyway, big bump back from clovis first to 31kya, which is also prior to the last glacial maximum by a lot.

think i posted this somewhere here years ago but maybe not the archived link at that time so here it is again.

WESTERN HEMISPHERE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES PLEISTOCENE DATA BASE

This was a list of pre-clovis sites posted by archeologist paulette steeves before she got famous and busy with work...she had another 400 or so sites that were never added. in here words:
Quote:
...these are sites with impressive archaeological records, including but not limited to: dated stratigraphy, tools, tool assemblages, extinct faunal assemblages, paleobotany, hearths, human remains, and in one case: proteins from ancient human coprolites. The sites I have added range mainly in age from 11,000 to 80,000 years with a few much older

of the 500ish sites only 12 were older than 80kya which is interesting considering that's around the date of entry according to the papers.
