Thank you Riktare. As to "begotten":

21:0.1 (234.1) THE Creator Sons are the makers and rulers of the local universes of time and space. These universe creators and sovereigns are of dual origin, embodying the characteristics of God the Father and God the Son. But each Creator Son is different from every other; each is unique in nature as well as in personality; each is the “only-begotten Son” of the perfect deity ideal of his origin.

21:1.2 (235.1) Each Creator Son is the only-begotten and only-begettable offspring of the perfect union of the original concepts of the two infinite and eternal and perfect minds of the ever-existent Creators of the universe of universes. There never can be another such Son because each Creator Son is the unqualified, finished, and final expression and embodiment of all of every phase of every feature of every possibility of every divine reality that could, throughout all eternity, ever be found in, expressed by, or evolved from, those divine creative potentials which united to bring this Michael Son into existence. Each Creator Son is the absolute of the united deity concepts which constitute his divine origin.

I was always doubtful about the "only" Son and this an "only world". Seemed far too intent on making our world far too important and exclusive and God far too small. Earth-centric reduction of the cosmos and God's purpose, power, and plan. Atonement seemed a direct contradiction to the loving God portrayed by my Jesus in the Bible in his words as remembered and written in the Gospels.

Michael was created "perfect"....Jesus was perfected as the Son of Man and regained his Michael Son perfection in the Perean Hills as I recall. That the human Jesus reached that moment of fusion (he did not fuse of course as the angels anticipated he would) in less than 30 years is amazing compared to most mortals who fuse which can often take centuries even in Light and Life (wherein humans do live for centuries). Of course Enoch had many advantages over Elijah including longevity (his grandfather lived to be 530 years old) and being the grandson of Adam and Eve and certainly enjoyed direct teaching by celestials (his grandfather and grandmother). Elijah? Truly amazing indeed!

The difference on Urantia before Michael's bestowal and after his death, receiving the Spirit of Truth and the flood of TAs certainly is a point of acceleration in all human potential for spiritization in our mortal lifetimes....a truly significant change in "the human condition".

Fusion is not a moment of perfection but the initial step and doorway into eternal life...the realization of former potential....with far more perfecting still to come!! I would agree that progressing through the psychic circles is perfecting. No one attains "personal perfection in this lifetime" according to the terms and definitions and teachings of the Papers. To be "engaged in the endeavor" of perfecting is the grand adventure indeed! The spirit within yearns for expression and the faithful respond and as we gain power in the spirit the gravity circuits seize us, lift us, and carry us according to our desire to do God's will. This, I agree, is the most important of all endeavors and the most fulfilling and the most rewarding to all who truly learn to love and serve in the Kingdom.

On the issue of Michael being perfect:

1:5.6 These Paradise Sons of the order of Michael are perfect personalities, even the pattern for all local universe personality from that of the Bright and Morning Star down to the lowest human creature of progressing animal evolution.

2:1.7 And all this necessitates such arrangements for contact and communication with his manifold creatures as have been ordained, first, in the personalities of the Paradise Sons of God, who, although perfect in divinity, also often partake of the nature of the very flesh and blood of the planetary races, becoming one of you and one with you; thus, as it were, God becomes man, as occurred in the bestowal of Michael, who was called interchangeably the Son of God and the Son of Man.

Me here: And all who are created by these Divine Sons from Paradise, have the potential of perfecting by the adventure of ascension:

32:3.3 (360.5) Except in the central universe, perfection is a progressive attainment. In the central creation we have a pattern of perfection, but all other realms must attain that perfection by the methods established for the advancement of those particular worlds or universes. And an almost infinite variety characterizes the plans of the Creator Sons for organizing, evolving, disciplining, and settling their respective local universes.

32:3.8 (361.3) Excepting perfect beings of Deity origin, all will creatures in the superuniverses are of evolutionary nature, beginning in lowly estate and climbing ever upward, in reality inward. Even highly spiritual personalities continue to ascend the scale of life by progressive translations from life to life and from sphere to sphere. And in the case of those who entertain the Mystery Monitors, there is indeed no limit to the possible heights of their spiritual ascent and universe attainment.

32:3.9 (361.4) The perfection of the creatures of time, when finally achieved, is wholly an acquirement, a bona fide personality possession. While the elements of grace are freely admixed, nevertheless, the creature attainments are the result of individual effort and actual living, personality reaction to the existing environment.

32:3.10 (361.5) The fact of animal evolutionary origin does not attach stigma to any personality in the sight of the universe as that is the exclusive method of producing one of the two basic types of finite intelligent will creatures. When the heights of perfection and eternity are attained, all the more honor to those who began at the bottom and joyfully climbed the ladder of life, round by round, and who, when they do reach the heights of glory, will have gained a personal experience which embodies an actual knowledge of every phase of life from the bottom to the top.

32:3.11 (361.6) In all this is shown the wisdom of the Creators. It would be just as easy for the Universal Father to make all mortals perfect beings, to impart perfection by his divine word. But that would deprive them of the wonderful experience of the adventure and training associated with the long and gradual inward climb, an experience to be had only by those who are so fortunate as to begin at the very bottom of living existence.

32:5.8 (365.4) The goal of eternity is ahead! The adventure of divinity attainment lies before you! The race for perfection is on! whosoever will may enter, and certain victory will crown the efforts of every human being who will run the race of faith and trust, depending every step of the way on the leading of the indwelling Adjuster and on the guidance of that good spirit of the Universe Son, which so freely has been poured out upon all flesh.

Me here: I think someone already posted this gem:

39:4.13 (435.6) To the inhabited worlds the quickeners of morality portray mortal life as an unbroken chain of many links. Your short sojourn on Urantia, on this sphere of mortal infancy, is only a single link, the very first in the long chain that is to stretch across universes and through the eternal ages. It is not so much what you learn in this first life; it is the experience of living this life that is important. Even the work of this world, paramount though it is, is not nearly so important as the way in which you do this work. There is no material reward for righteous living, but there is profound satisfaction — consciousness of achievement — and this transcends any conceivable material reward.

39:4.14 (435.7) The keys of the kingdom of heaven are: sincerity, more sincerity, and more sincerity. All men have these keys. Men use them — advance in spirit status — by decisions, by more decisions, and by more decisions. The highest moral choice is the choice of the highest possible value, and always — in any sphere, in all of them — this is to choose to do the will of God. If man thus chooses, he is great, though he be the humblest citizen of Jerusem or even the least of mortals on Urantia.

After death and resurrection, did the personalities of Jesus and Michael remain twofold? Is Christ Michael forever a twofold personality?

Can anyone shed some light on this? I have yet to understand the nature of a twofold personality and how it relates to The Trinity.

Yes indeed...glad to help!! Sorry for the delay....it took some time to find this:

120:4.2 (1331.2) But make no mistake; Christ Michael, while truly a dual-origin being, was not a double personality. He was not God in association with man but, rather, God incarnate in man. And he was always just that combined being. The only progressive factor in such a nonunderstandable relationship was the progressive self-conscious realization and recognition (by the human mind) of this fact of being God and man.

120:4.3 (1331.3) Christ Michael did not progressively become God. God did not, at some vital moment in the earth life of Jesus, become man. Jesus was God and man — always and even forevermore. And this God and this man were, and now are, one, even as the Paradise Trinity of three beings is in reality one Deity.

It might help to distinguish between the dual nature or duality of the mortal born being and Michael....the mind of Jesus was also human/material and like us, he was born with both material/animal mind and the Divine Spirit within. Once the TA arrives by our response to the higher adjutant ministries, then we more ably can discern the spirit nature of our Divine endowment, and we begin to transfer the seat of our identity from the material to the spiritual.

Upon fusion, we become a unified personality with Spirit - not dual natured now as we have completely transferred our personal identity to our spiritual nature. Jesus did not fuse and had no need for the unification of his personality was complete as his 7th Incarnation was complete....or so I understand.

Again, Paper 120 reminds us of the significance of the life of Jesus as the incarnate Son of God AND as the Son of Man.

120:0.3 (1323.3) In the course of each of these preceding bestowals Michael not only acquired the finite experience of one group of his created beings, but he also acquired an essential experience in Paradise co-operation which would, in and of itself, further contribute to constituting him the sovereign of his self-made universe. At any moment throughout all past local universe time, Michael could have asserted personal sovereignty as a Creator Son and as a Creator Son could have ruled his universe after the manner of his own choosing. In such an event, Immanuel and the associated Paradise Sons would have taken leave of the universe. But Michael did not wish to rule Nebadon merely in his own isolated right, as a Creator Son. He desired to ascend through actual experience in co-operative subordination to the Paradise Trinity to that high place in universe status where he would become qualified to rule his universe and administer its affairs with that perfection of insight and wisdom of execution which will sometime be characteristic of the exalted rule of the Supreme Being. He aspired not to perfection of rule as a Creator Son but to supremacy of administration as the embodiment of the universe wisdom and the divine experience of the Supreme Being.

120:0.4 (1324.1) Michael, therefore, had a double purpose in the making of these seven bestowals upon the various orders of his universe creatures: First, he was completing the required experience in creature understanding which is demanded of all Creator Sons before they assume complete sovereignty. At any time a Creator Son may rule his universe in his own right, but he can rule as the supreme representative of the Paradise Trinity only after passing through the seven universe-creature bestowals. Second, he was aspiring to the privilege of representing the maximum authority of the Paradise Trinity which can be exercised in the direct and personal administration of a local universe. Accordingly, did Michael, during the experience of each of his universe bestowals, successfully and acceptably voluntarily subordinate himself to the variously constituted wills of the diverse associations of the persons of the Paradise Trinity. That is, on the first bestowal he was subject to the combined will of the Father, Son, and Spirit; on the second bestowal to the will of the Father and the Son; on the third bestowal to the will of the Father and the Spirit; on the fourth bestowal to the will of the Son and the Spirit; on the fifth bestowal to the will of the Infinite Spirit; on the sixth bestowal to the will of the Eternal Son; and during the seventh and final bestowal, on Urantia, to the will of the Universal Father.

120:0.5 (1324.2) Michael, therefore, combines in his personal sovereignty the divine will of the sevenfold phases of the universal Creators with the understanding experience of his local universe creatures. Thus has his administration become representative of the greatest possible power and authority although divested of all arbitrary assumptions. His power is unlimited since it is derived from experienced association with the Paradise Deities; his authority is unquestioned inasmuch as it was acquired through actual experience in the likeness of universe creatures; his sovereignty is supreme since it embodies at one and the same time the sevenfold viewpoint of Paradise Deity with the creature viewpoint of time and space.

Perhaps so....although I would suggest that unification of personality with universe realities and the integration and harmonization and balance achieved regarding our dual nature is what leads to fusion in response to the Spirit within as we transfer the seat of our personal identity from the material nature to our spiritual, legacy nature. Our personal duality must first be managed by mind and we must choose to respond to the Spirit. Like water is the unlikely result of combining two gasses, I think fusion also delivers a whole new class of "being" (both noun and verb)...in properties and potentialities we become something far different and far more enduring.

Jesus showed us that the mortal death is but a portal into eternity for all who believe and love and respond to the Spirit.

106:0.1 (1162.1) IT IS not enough that the ascending mortal should know something of the relations of Deity to the genesis and manifestations of cosmic reality; he should also comprehend something of the relationships existing between himself and the numerous levels of existential and experiential realities, of potential and actual realities. Man’s terrestrial orientation, his cosmic insight, and his spiritual directionization are all enhanced by a better comprehension of universe realities and their techniques of interassociation, integration, and unification.

111:1.2 (1216.3) There is a cosmic unity in the several mind levels of the universe of universes. Intellectual selves have their origin in the cosmic mind much as nebulae take origin in the cosmic energies of universe space. On the human (hence personal) level of intellectual selves the potential of spirit evolution becomes dominant, with the assent of the mortal mind, because of the spiritual endowments of the human personality together with the creative presence of an entity-point of absolute value in such human selves. But such a spirit dominance of the material mind is conditioned upon two experiences: This mind must have evolved up through the ministry of the seven adjutant mind-spirits, and the material (personal) self must choose to co-operate with the indwelling Adjuster in creating and fostering the morontia self, the evolutionary and potentially immortal soul.

111:1.3 (1216.4) Material mind is the arena in which human personalities live, are self-conscious, make decisions, choose God or forsake him, eternalize or destroy themselves.

111:1.4 (1216.5) Material evolution has provided you a life machine, your body; the Father himself has endowed you with the purest spirit reality known in the universe, your Thought Adjuster. But into your hands, subject to your own decisions, has been given mind, and it is by mind that you live or die. It is within this mind and with this mind that you make those moral decisions which enable you to achieve Adjusterlikeness, and that is Godlikeness.

111:5.4 (1221.5) Peace in this life, survival in death, perfection in the next life, service in eternity — all these are achieved (in spirit) now when the creature personality consents — chooses — to subject the creature will to the Father’s will. And already has the Father chosen to make a fragment of himself subject to the will of the creature personality.

111:6.1 (1221.8) Many of the temporal troubles of mortal man grow out of his twofold relation to the cosmos. Man is a part of nature — he exists in nature — and yet he is able to transcend nature. Man is finite, but he is indwelt by a spark of infinity. Such a dual situation not only provides the potential for evil but also engenders many social and moral situations fraught with much uncertainty and not a little anxiety.

111:6.2 (1222.1) The courage required to effect the conquest of nature and to transcend one’s self is a courage that might succumb to the temptations of self-pride. The mortal who can transcend self might yield to the temptation to deify his own self-consciousness. The mortal dilemma consists in the double fact that man is in bondage to nature while at the same time he possesses a unique liberty — freedom of spiritual choice and action. On material levels man finds himself subservient to nature, while on spiritual levels he is triumphant over nature and over all things temporal and finite. Such a paradox is inseparable from temptation, potential evil, decisional errors, and when self becomes proud and arrogant, sin may evolve.

It looks like on 5 October Diego is saying that the problem is many reject the theory of atonement because they regard Jesus as the manifestation or creation of God rather than God per se. Whether I believe in Trinitarianism or Arianism, I can see that the problem with rejecting Michael AS God (Michael AS the Son of God) is that one may be distancing self from Godhood. That is to suggest, Diego, that if you say Jesus IS God in the manner you have you would say I AM not God, but how do you approach Matthew 7:7 "I say you are all sons of god."

The idea of atonement can be valid; with regards to human progress we could say God is reconciling us to Him through providence, through truth. And neither Arianism ("the seeds of time sown in the likeness of mortal flesh"). The whole issue pertains to whether the human population of this earth would fail to evolve, had Michael not bestowed hisself as Jesus.

Since Jesus is the revelation of the First Source and Center, in symbol and in experience we should be careful to preserve the pattern of his deeds. But those who are believers in his father may be aloof, by love and good deeds ascending through Michael to the father. Fanofvan makes pains to state that Jesus was a calculating person, but remember that most of the miracles he instigated were brought about via his unconscious (his love and will for the folks of Urantia).

Riktare....more on the changed human condition:

194:3.2 (2062.11) Many things which happen in the course of a human life are hard to understand, difficult to reconcile with the idea that this is a universe in which truth prevails and in which righteousness triumphs. It so often appears that slander, lies, dishonesty, and unrighteousness — sin — prevail. Does faith, after all, triumph over evil, sin, and iniquity? It does. And the life and death of Jesus are the eternal proof that the truth of goodness and the faith of the spirit-led creature will always be vindicated. They taunted Jesus on the cross, saying, “Let us see if God will come and deliver him.” It looked dark on that day of the crucifixion, but it was gloriously bright on the resurrection morning; it was still brighter and more joyous on the day of Pentecost. The religions of pessimistic despair seek to obtain release from the burdens of life; they crave extinction in endless slumber and rest. These are the religions of primitive fear and dread. The religion of Jesus is a new gospel of faith to be proclaimed to struggling humanity. This new religion is founded on faith, hope, and love.

194:3.3 (2063.1) To Jesus, mortal life had dealt its hardest, cruelest, and bitterest blows; and this man met these ministrations of despair with faith, courage, and the unswerving determination to do his Father’s will. Jesus met life in all its terrible reality and mastered it — even in death. He did not use religion as a release from life. The religion of Jesus does not seek to escape this life in order to enjoy the waiting bliss of another existence. The religion of Jesus provides the joy and peace of another and spiritual existence to enhance and ennoble the life which men now live in the flesh.

194:3.18 (2065.6) Pentecost was designed to lessen the self-assertiveness of individuals, groups, nations, and races. It is this spirit of self-assertiveness which so increases in tension that it periodically breaks loose in destructive wars. Mankind can be unified only by the spiritual approach, and the Spirit of Truth is a world influence which is universal.

194:3.19 (2065.7) The coming of the Spirit of Truth purifies the human heart and leads the recipient to formulate a life purpose single to the will of God and the welfare of men. The material spirit of selfishness has been swallowed up in this new spiritual bestowal of selflessness. Pentecost, then and now, signifies that the Jesus of history has become the divine Son of living experience. The joy of this outpoured spirit, when it is consciously experienced in human life, is a tonic for health, a stimulus for mind, and an unfailing energy for the soul.

Today, it seems so easy to see in the news the great contrast of masses that either cultivate the "fruits" of heeding the Spirit of Truth or masses that cultivate the "fruits" of ignoring or even countermanding the Spirit of Truth. Maybe we are nearing a time of cataclysm after which the "meek" shall inherit The Earth?

I agree. It appears that a great differentiation is about to occur. There won't be a middle ground. It's all very clear.

"I declare to you that there is nothing covered up that is not going to be revealed; there is nothing hidden that shall not be known."

We're at that point.

My opinion is that "a great differentiation" occurred at Pentacost....but the effects are now 2000 years in the making. Similarly, I think the effects which come by way of the 5th Epochal Revelation will need time to eventuate into its potential for "differentiation" as well.

While I am very optimistic myself and am inspired by the "quivering on the brink" quote, I wonder how long a brink might be in celestial or planetary epochal time? No matter what transpires in my lifetime (and there's been plenty!), the mortal life is too brief a time span to worry much about planetary transformation of epochal import. I do think it valuable to see and discern both progress and obstacles to progress in our time with the proper time unit perspective to acknowledge all prior progress and how much more there is still to come....to be a real witness to the unfolding epochal transformations.

The evolutionary planetary progress that comes will NOT end evolutionary process...so I disagree with nod that any sort of point without "middle ground" is imminent....the "middle ground" is where a mortal mind chooses and matures and gains experience, growth, and wisdom during the transfer of the seat of identity. There is no Armageddon or rapture or end of times or sudden end to human error/evil or abrogation of the evolutionary process which will still take tens or hundreds of thousands of years from here, at least according to Paper 52.

It is also a fact that the personal work of transferring the seat of identity and our circle progress is not or should not be affected by any material situation, circumstance, or change. We must still discern and follow the spirit by our own free will choices and decisions. Our educational and spiritual transformations are what they are....we will not be relieved of our personal work any more than the planet will be relieved from evolution.

So, other than the fun of speculation, there is nothing about to happen or ever might happen that changes the normal process of evolutionary progress for either individuals or our world, according to my understanding of the Papers.

I would opine that Jesus refused to impress our world or people with signs and wonders while walking among us. He demonstrated the fruitless error of thinking that the world can be revolutionized without evolutionary process and patience with the feeding of the 5000 who abandoned him as soon as the free food quit coming. This was a calculated and specific lesson to the Apostles...and to us.

The world changes soul by soul....the aggregation of personal spiritization over time. There is no planetary spiritization without the personal first...as go the parts, so goes the whole we are taught.

Adam and Eve were ultimately corrupted by impatience. Lucifer by the allure of false liberty. These lessons have been presented to our generation and at this time in recognition of planetary, evolutionary success by the Most Highs in new partnership with the Spirit of Truth and its profound influence over these past 2000 years. The lesson is not sudden mass transformations of this or any world but, rather, as a lesson in patience and the certainty of outcome....over epochal time frames.

The Papers have much to say about the immaturity of impatience and the certain disappointment that attends such. It is also true that such impatience results in many false expectations of "deliverance" from trials and tribulations which truly must be "solved" by free will individual choices and, also, such impatience creates a general anxiety which interferes with much that is important to personal progress. Some come to believe that all is lost or that mortals may destroy humanity, both of which signify a lack of faith in the Most Highs and in Michael and in God.

No matter how horrific a situation, there is a love response at work which requires discernment to see. This spirit led love response in mortal matters is slow but certain in its progress through the mortal epochs of time. Those dark and gloomy souls who cannot see this reality live in a state of despair that is self destructive and can lead to all manner of radical responses and beliefs. Our world does not need "saving"....it needs more and more people to have more and more love and faith and more and more self forgetting service one to another. This will cure the world of all ills over time.

118:1.3 (1295.3) There is a direct relationship between maturity and the unit of time consciousness in any given intellect. The time unit may be a day, a year, or a longer period, but inevitably it is the criterion by which the conscious self evaluates the circumstances of life, and by which the conceiving intellect measures and evaluates the facts of temporal existence.

118:1.4 (1295.4) Experience, wisdom, and judgment are the concomitants of the lengthening of the time unit in mortal experience. As the human mind reckons backward into the past, it is evaluating past experience for the purpose of bringing it to bear on a present situation. As mind reaches out into the future, it is attempting to evaluate the future significance of possible action. And having thus reckoned with both experience and wisdom, the human will exercises judgment-decision in the present, and the plan of action thus born of the past and the future becomes existent.

118:1.5 (1295.5) In the maturity of the developing self, the past and future are brought together to illuminate the true meaning of the present. As the self matures, it reaches further and further back into the past for experience, while its wisdom forecasts seek to penetrate deeper and deeper into the unknown future. And as the conceiving self extends this reach ever further into both past and future, so does judgment become less and less dependent on the momentary present. In this way does decision-action begin to escape from the fetters of the moving present, while it begins to take on the aspects of past-future significance.

118:1.6 (1295.6) Patience is exercised by those mortals whose time units are short; true maturity transcends patience by a forbearance born of real understanding.

118:1.7 (1295.7) To become mature is to live more intensely in the present, at the same time escaping from the limitations of the present. The plans of maturity, founded on past experience, are coming into being in the present in such manner as to enhance the values of the future.

118:1.8 (1295.8) The time unit of immaturity concentrates meaning-value into the present moment in such a way as to divorce the present of its true relationship to the not-present — the past-future. The time unit of maturity is proportioned so to reveal the co-ordinate relationship of past-present-future that the self begins to gain insight into the wholeness of events, begins to view the landscape of time from the panoramic perspective of broadened horizons, begins perhaps to suspect the nonbeginning, nonending eternal continuum, the fragments of which are called time.

nod says above:

"I agree. It appears that a great differentiation is about to occur. There won't be a middle ground. It's all very clear.

"I declare to you that there is nothing covered up that is not going to be revealed; there is nothing hidden that shall not be known." (from Paper 150 - The Third Preaching Tour)

We're at that point."

I find this a most curious claim. That quote was made 2000 years ago. Urantia's mortal epochs of transformation is still tens or hundreds of thousands of years in our future. The entire mortal ascension before and after fusion is one of learning, growing, and discovering all that is not yet known or revealed to us yet. There is no one moment where all is revealed according to that which we share here together.

What "point" are we at? Who says so? Got a quote? Or a hot tip? Ouija Board? Insider information?

In many ways, evolution is a process of moving through one form of crisis to another and from one level of evil/error and immaturity to another. Is slavery good or bad? Well...it pretty much wiped out cannibalism and reduced genocide significantly and resulted in city/nation building from tribalism. Is materialism and profit good or bad? Well....it leads to important leisure for higher pursuits and eventually to the service motivated economy and improved cooperation between nation/states and relieves the impulse for nationalistic war.

How can one differentiate the crisis of today from those of our past? Why is today's worse? Well, because we are here now of course...and only by that measure of immature, impatient perspective that believes today is more important than yesterday or tomorrow IMO makes today's crisis more important....it is only more important to us subjectively....not by an objective criteria at all. Every day is another day in planetary progress toward that inevitable time of Light and Life to come.

The quote certainly does not say or infer or mean that at some singular point in time that all shall know everything. Not how the universe works at all.

nod's claims sound very familiar....like the impatient apostles longing for the wrong thing for the wrong reason. Just sayin'...
