Why leave the impression that Jesus rose physically from death by leaving the tomb open if physical resurrection has no importance in the situation? Why create controversy about the matter of Jesus' resurrection? This, to me, is not logical.
hmm..you ask a rather intriguing question , I LIKE IT honestly, when i asked myself this question, i said, if i was in the place of GOD, why would i do such a thing!? The first thing that came to mind was:
Perhaps Father simply wanted to accord the Jews ANOTHER Chance of salvation, of truly believing.. The sight of the Tomb being rolled away , AS IT WAS BEING ROLLED AWAY, was only witnessed by the GUARDS, the Romans and the Jewish, that event , was intended for THEM, so, when THEY, the entire Group, not just one person, (A group's testimony is stronger than an individual's) went and retold the story for the Sanhedrin , What more can they want ? what more can they ask for as a testimony that Jesus truly ROSE from the dead..
Lets think about it, IF, the tomb wasn't rolled, and yet, ALL the apostles, and ALL the people Still saw the resurrections...do you think the Jews would believe, or any skeptic for that matter? NO, they will simply say, its make believe, or attribute it to any other seemingly logical explanation..
But; the act of the stone being rolled away, in front of those who accuse him, and don't believe, should send a direct message to them, that HE TRULY rose from the dead, whether they choose to believe it was by the power of the devil or not, the fact still remained, the TOMB was ROLLED AWAY, and HIS apparitions FOLLOWED, and perhaps (According to their understanding of the scientific world back then) those terms or conditions where necessary for a resurrected body to get out of a tomb.
It is only my humble OPINION and SPECULATION, as for the factual truth , that , shall remain an intriguing mystery.
Thank you for such a thought provoking question dear brother, looking forward for more
