Why was the stone in front of the tomb rolled away to show an empty tomb? Why create a confusion/controversy about the resurrection giving the impression that Jesus rose physically if it was actually morontially?

(2021.5) 189:1.6 Let us forever clarify the concept of the resurrection of Jesus by making the following statements:

(2021.6) 189:1.7 1. His material or physical body was not a part of the resurrected personality. When Jesus came forth from the tomb, his body of flesh remained undisturbed in the sepulchre. He emerged from the burial tomb without moving the stones before the entrance and without disturbing the seals of Pilate.

(2023.3) 189:2.4 As they made ready to remove the body of Jesus from the tomb preparatory to according it the dignified and reverent disposal of near-instantaneous dissolution, it was assigned the secondary Urantia midwayers to roll away the stones from the entrance of the tomb. The larger of these two stones was a huge circular affair, much like a millstone, and it moved in a groove chiseled out of the rock, so that it could be rolled back and forth to open or close the tomb. When the watching Jewish guards and the Roman soldiers, in the dim light of the morning, saw this huge stone begin to roll away from the entrance of the tomb, apparently of its own accord — without any visible means to account for such motion — they were seized with fear and panic, and they fled in haste from the scene. The Jews fled to their homes, afterward going back to report these doings to their captain at the temple. The Romans fled to the fortress of Antonia and reported what they had seen to the centurion as soon as he arrived on duty.

Perhaps in order to give reason to look inside and see it was empty. No one would have known for a long time if the stone had not rolled. Plus, midwayers being a lot like you and me, it was most likely a lot of fun!

They probably wanted humans to look inside and be in awe of an empty tomb. I don't think they wanted to leave Jesus' body so that it could be used as a holy relic.

Then why leave the clothes, which could also be used in this way? Holy relics don't have to be body parts.

It was not possible for the midwayers to get the physical body of Jesus out of the tomb without opening the stone door.

(2022.5) 189:2.1 At ten minutes past three o’clock, as the resurrected Jesus fraternized with the assembled morontia personalities from the seven mansion worlds of Satania, the chief of archangels — the angels of the resurrection — approached Gabriel and asked for the mortal body of Jesus. Said the chief of the archangels: “We may not participate in the morontia resurrection of the bestowal experience of Michael our sovereign, but we would have his mortal remains put in our custody for immediate dissolution. We do not propose to employ our technique of dematerialization; we merely wish to invoke the process of accelerated time. It is enough that we have seen the Sovereign live and die on Urantia; the hosts of heaven would be spared the memory of enduring the sight of the slow decay of the human form of the Creator and Upholder of a universe. In the name of the celestial intelligences of all Nebadon, I ask for a mandate giving me the custody of the mortal body of Jesus of Nazareth and empowering us to proceed with its immediate dissolution.”

The chief of the archangels says they have the power to dematerialize the body of Jesus but they don't want to use this technique, preferring to use the process of accelerated time on the body. Why not just dematerialize the body and leave the tomb sealed, eliminating any controversy about physical resurrection among the followers of Jesus?

And then...

(2023.2) 189:2.3 After the chief of archangels had been granted this request, he summoned to his assistance many of his fellows, together with a numerous host of the representatives of all orders of celestial personalities, and then, with the aid of the Urantia midwayers, proceeded to take possession of Jesus’ physical body. This body of death was a purely material creation; it was physical and literal; it could not be removed from the tomb as the morontia form of the resurrection had been able to escape the sealed sepulchre. By the aid of certain morontia auxiliary personalities, the morontia form can be made at one time as of the spirit so that it can become indifferent to ordinary matter, while at another time it can become discernible and contactable to material beings, such as the mortals of the realm.

In order to use accelerated time on Jesus' physical body, it has to be removed from the tomb. Why? Why can't the process of accelerated time be performed in the tomb?

And then...

Why didn't the midwayers return the stone to it's original position after Jesus' body was removed thereby eliminating any controversy about how Jesus was resurrected?

Adding to the confusion:
Why was the stone in front of the tomb rolled away to show an empty tomb? Why create a confusion/controversy about the resurrection giving the impression that Jesus rose physically if it was actually morontially?

--Christians who truly believe and have faith in the bible sees it as a pre-plan affair by Jesus himself which purpose is to show/pave the way for human being of what will happen to them at death-spiritually, that is; and to fullfill his own mission and purpose.'.this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the imortality and the eternal life of man..book of Moses'. In other verses, according to the Bible(NT), Jesus prohecied of his own death and within 3 days, it shall be raise again...'in three days this temple shall be rebuilt anew...' Connect this together and a pattern began to emerge;..surely a God will not contradict Himself and fall on his promise; the human must make to see and believe what was preached,ie, He is a God and that this life is not all there is but a better future for those who believe; and there is no better way to teach a lesson by adhering to the world/view of the student accordingly; physical material human mind must be taught accordingly. imo,and if we look carefully, there actually was no 'death',( a God die!?)but merely a necessary process by a God to entitled him to have complete and perfect ruling of his universe(remember, this was his 7th. bestowal) He had gone thru similar process 6 times before. To those who believe that Jesus is a God, there is no controversy;but a belief that he has the ability to lay down his own life and restore it back again, thus proving that he truly is a God. Of the technique and ways of his resurrection which seems odd to our physical reasonings, it might be that the law and celestial science of doing it require just that. wish we could ask those Midwayers involved! hehe..

The chief of the archangels says they have the power to dematerialize the body of Jesus but they don't want to use this technique, preferring to use the process of accelerated time on the body. Why not just dematerialize the body and leave the tomb sealed, eliminating any controversy about physical resurrection among the followers of Jesus?
.. a tomb sealed is no proof. no proof mean Jesus is talking nonsense for all these while and a liar. His purpose on earth is to teach, preach, examples and ulitmately winning souls (thus his considred failed ministries for 33 years!) and save them for good. He is a God-man who came down on a mission and determind that He suceed.

As for the reason between the process of materialisation and time accelerated, imo,we never know what will happen to his plan should the particles of his biological body or spirit is affected by the choosen process. What a better way to show one as truly a God by dying, rose up again and showed oneself to the livings! Even more so necessary when the majority of his choosen followers still has doubts and unbelieving.

In order to use accelerated time on Jesus' physical body, it has to be removed from the tomb. Why? Why can't the process of accelerated time be performed in the tomb?..did the UB stated that the process was done inside or outside, in other places? if it does, than obviously, the process needs to be done in some specialized environment (...the Ancient Aliens student may call it a spacecraft!)

Why didn't the midwayers return the stone to it's original position after Jesus' body was removed thereby eliminating any controversy about how Jesus was resurrected?

......to prove that he is alive and and that He truly is a God who has power over life; and thus shall ye believe

[/b]
Then why leave the clothes, which could also be used in this way? Holy relics don't have to be body parts.

[/b] ....
.... imo, again as physical proof and to euthenticate to the human that it indeed was the body/cloth of Jesus and that He is no more there, or it may be just a convenient way for the midwayers to place the uneeded cloth! btw, would it be traumatic and horrorful for his followers to saw Him in a bloodied and torn clothing?!! Morontia body needs morontia materials/cloth to cover Him...He says,..' touch me not, for i have not yet ascended to the Father..' he is of a different material then/ a much better/purer form. Guess cotton clothing is not in good demand over there..heheh.

The resurrection of Jesus was morontial, not physical, according the TUB. Why leave the impression that Jesus rose physically from death by leaving the tomb open if physical resurrection has no importance in the situation? Why create controversy about the matter of Jesus' resurrection? This, to me, is not logical.

hmm..you ask a rather intriguing question , I LIKE IT
honestly, when i asked myself this question, i said, if i was in the place of GOD, why would i do such a thing!?
The first thing that came to mind was:

Perhaps Father simply wanted to accord the Jews ANOTHER Chance of salvation, of truly believing..
The sight of the Tomb being rolled away , AS IT WAS BEING ROLLED AWAY, was only witnessed by the GUARDS, the Romans and the Jewish, that event , was intended for THEM, so, when THEY, the entire Group, not just one person, (A group's testimony is stronger than an individual's) went and retold the story for the Sanhedrin , What more can they want ? what more can they ask for as a testimony that Jesus truly ROSE from the dead..

Lets think about it, IF, the tomb wasn't rolled, and yet, ALL the apostles, and ALL the people Still saw the resurrections...do you think the Jews would believe, or any skeptic for that matter? NO, they will simply say, its make believe, or attribute it to any other seemingly logical explanation..

But; the act of the stone being rolled away, in front of those who accuse him, and don't believe, should send a direct message to them, that HE TRULY rose from the dead, whether they choose to believe it was by the power of the devil or not, the fact still remained, the TOMB was ROLLED AWAY, and HIS apparitions FOLLOWED, and perhaps (According to their understanding of the scientific world back then) those terms or conditions where necessary for a resurrected body to get out of a tomb.

It is only my humble OPINION and SPECULATION, as for the factual truth , that , shall remain an intriguing mystery. :D

Thank you for such a thought provoking question dear brother, looking forward for more

I am sure there was a lot of Jesus' possessions that could have been used as a relic, but its probably best to get rid of the biggest candies first (his body), clothes are hardly an object worth worshiping. Imagine if we had the harp Jesus played as a youth? That thing would be revered. Or if people somehow found his relatives.

Quote:
2008.1) 187:2.9 It was well that the Roman soldiers took possession of the Master’s clothing. Otherwise, if his followers had gained possession of these garments, they would have been tempted to resort to superstitious relic worship. The Master desired that his followers should have nothing material to associate with his life on earth. He wanted to leave mankind only the memory of a human life dedicated to the high spiritual ideal of being consecrated to doing the Father’s will.

They didn't want the Master to experience mortal decay as they did not think it was fitting for him. So he underwent an accelerated process of decomposition so it was like he just disappeared, clothes and all, also so that nothing would remain that would become a relic and worshiped.

we can not truly hope to second guess the logic of superhuman actions, but what has been relieved makes since to me...and haven read books from the Christian point of view on the resurrection, it is interesting how they misinterpreted so much to hold to there superstition of sacrifice for others sins.

There was a well written book a while back that created a story line from an investigators point of view, hired by Pilot to go the the scene and find evidence of what happened...all in all it was a great read.

I imagine what it must have sounded like to others as the guards tried to convince them they saw the stone move on it's own:)

and remember when marry saw Jesus he told her not to touch him, implying he could be touched?

I was truly moved as the U.B. portrait to us how the how of the universe cryed as they saw him suffer than die in that manner, so for them to ask to speed up time to remove the body from sight made since to me.

But the world did need to know that he was risen, only a few hundred would be given the right to see the resurrected Christ before he moved on to the Father so having all this unexplained deviance keeps the question open and hopeful believes leaning towards the possibility that Jesus was indeed the Son of God.

and lets not for get that one of his messages to all was that there is life After death and Heaven is above ..no as the old writings had said ...that there was to be a Savior that would rein here King of Kings and bring Heaven here on Earth....ppl needed to understand that we are Spirit more so than flesh and life moves on from here to something bigger beyond...that is for it's time a powerful message and still one today.

The Urantia Book

Paper 190

Morontia Appearances of Jesus

(2029.1) 190:0.1 THE resurrected Jesus now prepares to spend a short period on Urantia for the purpose of experiencing the ascending morontia career of a mortal of the realms. Although this time of the morontia life is to be spent on the world of his mortal incarnation, it will, however, be in all respects the counterpart of the experience of Satania mortals who pass through the progressive morontia life of the seven mansion worlds of Jerusem.

(2029.2) 190:0.2 All this power which is inherent in Jesus — the endowment of life — and which enabled him to rise from the dead, is the very gift of eternal life which he bestows upon kingdom believers, and which even now makes certain their resurrection from the bonds of natural death.

(2029.3) 190:0.3 The mortals of the realms will arise in the morning of the resurrection with the same type of transition or morontia body that Jesus had when he arose from the tomb on this Sunday morning. These bodies do not have circulating blood, and such beings do not partake of ordinary material food; nevertheless, these morontia forms are real. When the various believers saw Jesus after his resurrection, they really saw him; they were not the self-deceived victims of visions or hallucinations.

(2029.4) 190:0.4 Abiding faith in the resurrection of Jesus was the cardinal feature of the faith of all branches of the early gospel teaching. In Jerusalem, Alexandria, Antioch, and Philadelphia all the gospel teachers united in this implicit faith in the Master’s resurrection.

(2029.5) 190:0.5 In viewing the prominent part which Mary Magdalene took in proclaiming the Master’s resurrection, it should be recorded that Mary was the chief spokesman for the women’s corps, as was Peter for the apostles. Mary was not chief of the women workers, but she was their chief teacher and public spokesman. Mary had become a woman of great circumspection, so that her boldness in speaking to a man whom she considered to be the caretaker of Joseph’s garden only indicates how horrified she was to find the tomb empty. It was the depth and agony of her love, the fullness of her devotion, that caused her to forget, for a moment, the conventional restraints of a Jewish woman’s approach to a strange man.
