Announcing The Urantia Book Timeline

A new feature has been added to the Truthbook.com site... a timeline of significant dates from The Urantia Book. The timeline can be viewed at http://www.truthbook.com/index.cfm?linkID=2314

There are several reasons for developing this timeline: First, doing a Google of Urantia Book shows a new feature at the bottom of Google's first page results called "Timeline results for urantia book." Google builds a timeline from various sources and websites to produce linked timelines. The current timeline being displayed for The Urantia Book is sketchy and the links go to various websites. By providing a comprehensive timeline on Truthbook we'll be able to direct more traffic to our site.

Second, The Urantia Books reveals a considerable number of previously unknown dates -- information of interest to many non-Urantia Book searchers, readers, and scholars. The timeline can open up The Urantia Book to a new audience.

Third, we anticipate correlating known scientific dates with dates for those events given in The Urantia Book. The dates of early astronomical and geological events described in The Urantia Book don't correlate one to one with dates determined by astronomical and geological scientists. The explanation for this rests on the foundation that creation isn't simply a physical phenomenon as measured by science, that there is a scientifically unrecognizable spiritual overcontrol that can and does affect material creation. A correlation of these discrepancies can lead to new directions of scientific inquiry. Science and Urantia Book dates more recent than 10,000,000 B.C. should correspond one to one; many of these more recent dates were unknown before the Urantia revelation.

Fourth, there are dates and events disclosed in The Urantia Book that have been verified since the publication of the book; this can provide scientific credibility.

This timeline is intentionally not an exhaustive list of all the dates contained in The Urantia Book; it's still a work in progress -- there may be errors, additional clarification may be required, significant dates may not appear, so your participation is requested. If you have suggestions or corrections please post them here.

It's does look wonderful. What a good idea. Well let's see what we can do to help. I just briefly looked at it and it looked good. What details or errors should we look for? What might be missing?

Hi Joer -- Give us until near the end of next week before digging in to it -- I expect there'll be several updates between then and now. I guess the main thing will be to identify significant dates that have been left out.
