My thoughts on this are that: YES, there is definitely thought crime as taught in the Book. The Authors are very specific that the indwelling Adjuster suffers thru our thoughts of evil and sin. And flagrant lust is, in my opinion, one of those evils.
That being said, step back and realize that evil is an ever-present reality on this damaged and strife torn planet. So the lust, porn and whatever we do in private to satisfy our carnal desires is, at least in the big picture, a relatively minor evil.
I mean, you cannot go a day in this world without some really bad stuff going down somewhere, and usually multiple somewheres… so physically working out your natural sexual frustrations is a pretty benign evil, one which hurts no one else and probably keeps us sane in this insane world.
What the Book really teaches us on this is that we must strive for ever increasing control of our inherent animal natures. As Bradly so loves to say, (and I mean this in the BEST way possible cause it’s an awesome quote): Keep on being that tadpole. Incremental progress means much more in this universe than all the promises and resolutions in the world. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and remember, it’s pretty much ALL small stuff.
