Please, is "blanketing effect" the same as "greenhouse effect"? Are they synonyms?

(666.2) 58:2.5 Were it not for the “blanketing” effect of the atmosphere at night, heat would be lost by radiation so rapidly that life would be impossible of maintenance except by artificial provision

Hi Angel,

Great question, as always!

Yes, it has been my impression that the greenhouse effect is the phenomenon to which they are referring. I would say the phrase "blanketing effect of the atmosphere" is what would be synonymous with "greenhouse effect".

The "atmosphere" is mainly nitrogen and oxygen. Perhaps we should have nitrogen credits or oxygen credits. Plants produce oxygen and "fix" nitrogen. Should we not go after these culprits to solve our "global warming" problem? The ICE seems to be a minor issue by comparison. :shock:
