I noticed that the passage numbering of the Urantia Book on this site (http://urantiapapers.freeurantia.org/) is different from other websites.

Example: On a recent post, this quote was given:

48:6.26 Even on Urantia, these seraphim teach the everlasting truth: If your own mind does not serve you well, you can exchange it for the mind of Jesus of Nazareth, who always serves you well.

But in the abovementioned site, this is what can be read on the same passage number:

48:6.26 You will learn that you increase your burdens and decrease the likelihood of success by taking yourself too seriously. Nothing can take precedence over the work of your status sphere—this world or the next. Very important is the work of preparation for the next higher sphere, but nothing equals the importance of the work of the world in which you are actually living. But though the work is important, the self is not. When you feel important, you lose energy to the wear and tear of ego dignity so that there is little energy left to do the work. Self-importance, not work-importance, exhausts immature creatures; it is the self element that exhausts, not the effort to achieve. You can do important work if you do not become self-important; you can do several things as easily as one if you leave yourself out. Variety is restful; monotony is what wears and exhausts. Day after day is alike—just life or the alternative of death.

Which one is correct?

This is the correct version. Tigran keeps an accurate online version at http://www.bibles.org.uk.

Hello --
It's a good question.

Until about 2000 there were two commonly used referencing systems of the Urantia Book quotes; one was the A-B-C-D method used by Clyde Bedell. who developed the first major work of categorizing the text, The Concordes. He referred to a page number and A if the quote was from the first 1/4 of the page, B if the second, and like that. So for about 45 years that's how many people referred to quotes... 1234B.

During that time too Urantia Foundation used the page and paragraph system -- with The Urantia book beoming available as electronic text on the internet it was becoming more needed to have a referencing system that could be more specific. 123.4 Also, although they tried, it wasn't convenient to make translations fit on the same page layout that the English text used.

When the Fellowship found it necessary to begin printing their own versions of The Urantia Book i about 2000 Harry McMullan numbered the paragraphs with a paper:section.paragraph system like 123:4.5. However, he chose not to number the short lines in some lists, so the numbers often skipped.

After a short while this proved to be a problem -- The Fellowship continued to use it but Urantia Foundation, when they adopted the explanations for changes to the text by the Standardization Committee also adopted a new renumbering of the text, so that every paragraph and separate list line was numbered with the paper:section.paragraph annotation. They also hung onto the page.paragraph annotation because so many study aids referred to the text that way.

The Fellowship adopted the Foundation's newer SRT numbering system so that references would be consistent. So we've been in a somewhat chaotic period when how to refer to the text was being sorted out.

So there have been at least half a dozen numbering methods in use and the numbers don't necessarily agree. It appears that that confusion has been corrected and that one standardized numbering system has been settled on, but older websites may have older versions of the numbers being displayed. The correct versions of the text are available on Truthbook.com, the Fellowship, and Urantia Foundation's website.
