Were there many Hebrews who rejected animal sacrifice in ancient times,
after the time of Moses and but well before Christ Michael/Jesus and John the Baptist,
besides the Essenes, some of whom later called the temple in Jerusalem, "the slaughter house" ?

It is necessary to observe that a certain core of the Hebrews was transferred into the Semitic Christians. That is, Peter & Matthew were prolific Hebrews whose families became the obscure Christian Church. The promises given unto Abraham were maintained and exemplified by Peter. There is a peace, a blessedness, and some remnant of Jacob that went into the Christian Church, in an expecially during the 76 A.D. pillaging of Jerusalem.
