597..4) 52:6.3 1. Social fraternity. Multiplication of international and interracial social contacts and fraternal associations through travel, commerce, and competitive play. Development of a common language and the multiplication of multilinguists. The racial and national interchange of students, teachers, industrialists, and religious philosophers

Please, does "multilinguists" refer to the first or to the second meaning?

1. A person who speaks several languages fluently.
2. A specialist in linguistics.

In Spanish, "linguist" has only one meaning =2

Thank you.

#1 is the correct definition. Bi-lingual people break down cultural barriers. Much of the world is multi-lingual even. Education builds bridges of understanding by breaking down language obstacles both by the spoken word and the written word too. Like you Angel - you build this bridge, not me, who is stuck with but one language.....for now. My wife and I plan to begin to learn Spanish soon. They say it is good for the brain at my age. That and red wine thankfully.

Yes, learning other languages helps you understand better other cultures and even your own. Although I am not so proficient, I also learned French, and I love French culture as I love American culture. I spent six years in your country. I was a graduate student and a teacher at Vanderbilt. I have good memories.

Thank you for your continuous help.
