On November 11 UB reader Michael Parrott's died while serving in Iraq.
Those who can attend are invited to a memorial service celebrating and honoring his life on Friday, December 2, 2005. The memorial will be held in the Lory Student Center West Ballroom on the Colorado State University campus, at 4:00 p.m.
Michael worked at Colorado State University for 15 years as a Utility Locator, and also had 15 years service in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He signed up with the National Guard in 2003 to pick up five more years of service toward retirement benefits, but also to be of service to a country he loved and believed in.
Michael was a cherished member of the Longs Peak Faithers Urantia Book Study Group in Fort Collins/Loveland. He had been reading The Urantia Book for at least 10 years on his own, and then sought out the study group for discussion, study and fellowship. He was indeed a Truth-Seeker! He was tremendously well-read regarding many world religions as well as world history and politics. He savored many aspects of The Urantia Book, but in particular Part IV, the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ. He loved our Father, life and being of service to his fellow man.
Michael's funeral was held in his home town of Canton, North Carolina on
November 19. The Smoky Mountain news published a moving tribute for any who wish to read it. It can be found at: http://www.smokymountainnews.com.
Michael's wife of 19 years, Meg Corwin, has asked that any contributions made in Michael's memory be sent to The Pipeline of Light for distribution of The Urantia Book in foreign libraries.
