Hello,

I've been reading Urantia issues for two years (2017).

I ask myself the question of the divine laws to exercise during our terrestrial career waiting for the resurrection.

Before knowing the revelation of the LU, I studied the Bible and based myself on the Ten Commandments dictated by Moses to the Hebrew people on Mount Sinai to - 1470 CE.

You certainly know them and I will not list them.

In the booklet 66, we can read that Han promulgated seven commandments to observe :

"66.0) 66:7.8 Hap presented the early races with a moral law. This code was known as “The Father’s Way” and consisted of the following seven commands:

(66.0) 66:7.9 1. You shall not fear nor serve any God but the Father of all.

(66.0) 66:7.10 2. You shall not disobey the Father’s Son, the world’s ruler, nor show disrespect to his superhuman associates.

(66.0) 66:7.11 3. You shall not speak a lie when called before the judges of the people.

(66.0) 66:7.12 4. You shall not kill men, women, or children.

(66.0) 66:7.13 5. You shall not steal your neighbor’s goods or cattle.

(66.0) 66:7.14 6. You shall not touch your friend’s wife.

(66.0) 66:7.15 7. You shall not show disrespect to your parents or to the elders of the tribe.

As you can see; they differ slightly from the laws issued by Moses.

What do you think are the laws of the universe to be observed in order to reach the first world of the morontia houses at resurrection?

The ten commandements or others ?

And second question, what are the behaviors that hinder our spiritual progression in our body of flesh ?

The apostle Paul quotes the following in Galatians 5 :

"19, Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24, And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. "

A specific mention for fornication :

watching pornographic videos is considered fornication ?

Is one harmed oneself by regading this type of videos ?

I admit that I sometimes tend to look at this type of content and I am not proud of it. Will I be criticized on the day of the judgments ?

Thank you for your indulgent answers on this subject.

May the glory and power of our Lord Jesus Christ allow us to overcome the temptations of the flesh and progress to greater wisdom and perfection.

These laws you refer to are guidelines for very primitive people that help with civilization formation.
We have several gifts that help us sort out what evil, sin and iniquity are without the need for written laws.
And now, after Pentecost that everyone has adjusters, a simple belief in God should open the Morontia life to us.

Great response. As to any habit that one may have that is potentially harmful, the best rule to follow is that which is often cited with regard to alcohol use. If it is kept within bounds so as not to impair your ability to work productively with others, care for your family, and maintain a reasonable level of self-respect and self-care, then it is nothing to worry about. Moderation in all things.

However, if it becomes an obsession, major distraction, or a habit that precludes your duties to family and society, then it would be sin (error, as defined by the Urantia Book) and would need to be worked on (remediated) either in this life or post-resurrection.

See 4:5.3 and 140:6.5

The "law" of God's creation is love. God's love for the each and the all and our love for God and one another and all others. It is not complicated. We are forgiven our errors and transgressions AS we forgive others and we receive the love we give others by such measure. Our capacity to receive forgiveness and love equals our personal output of both. Not complicated. The universe is a circuit, multiple circuits, whereby each of us are destined to return to our source based on our response to those circuits...personality, mind, and spirit.

The Master delivered the great commandments to replace the old laws of behaviors with the law of love. It is about motive and the heart according to Jesus...not the rules of behaviors. We are not slaves to laws but the beloved children of God.

The UB teaches that there are mind poisons to avoid, including anxiety, fear, anger, impatience, prejudice (the love of our own beliefs and opinions), greed, materialism, self love, etc. and recommends a body free of bio poisons as well.

Truthseeker888...thanks for your posting. I agree with all that's been said so far, and I am reminded of this little statement found in "Our Religion" - a condensation of Jesus' revelation of God as understood by Ganid, the young Indian lad who traveled with the Master throughout the Mediterranean:

Quote:
131:10.4 “The Father in heaven will not suffer a single child on earth to perish if that child has a desire to find the Father and truly longs to be like him. Our Father even loves the wicked and is always kind to the ungrateful. If more human beings could only know about the goodness of God, they would certainly be led to repent of their evil ways and forsake all known sin. All good things come down from the Father of light, in whom there is no variableness neither shadow of changing. The spirit of the true God is in man's heart. He intends that all men should be brothers. When men begin to feel after God, that is evidence that God has found them, and that they are in quest of knowledge about him. We live in God and God dwells in us.

The part that I want to emphasize is that which says when we discover the goodness of God, we are led to forsake all known sin. Instead of being worried that we've violated a given commandment, we voluntarily align ourselves with God, so that we stay on the straight path. Why? Because it is a better, more joyful life.

MaryJo,
Your last point is especially relevant and useful. It reminds me of Jesus' way of teaching; he would always teach in the positive. So, intead of saying "do not" do something [wrong/ erroneous], he would say "do" [something good]. So, rather than saying "thou shalt not kill"; "thou shalt not covey they neighbor's" etc. he just says "Love one another".

As Bradly pointed out, the law is Love. That's all anyone needs to know.

Thanks Agon...the Father rules the mighty universe by the power of love. We can do no less in our little lives. All the commandments, if followed, lead to more loving behaviors - especially when we turn them around to the positive.

For me i have summed up the totality of God knowing and universal truth in 4 words.

keeping it simple and leaving the expanded interpretation to the individual.

Love, Patience, Understanding, and Forgiveness.
in their highest expression beyond human comprehension these truths guide all.

it is clear to me if any faith claims to teach Godliness with out this balanced truth, they are like the arrow the missed the make.
