I had thought I heard in these forums that Gene Roddenberry was a reader of TUB. Is this correct? Because I saw on his wikipedia page that he was an atheist.

Something being "widely known" in the UB readership does not make something a fact. ANY group is capable of being deluded through wishful thinking, even died-in-the-wool UB readers. I would be more inclined to think Rodenberry was in a fortuitous liaison with a celestial artisan than a reader of the revelation, but I am sure there are those who would take exception to my considered opinion. One thing is certain: he stimulated our minds to go where no man had gone before!

Well, I'll bet he is more aware of it now than ever. I hope he was one of those who awaked upon arrival and is having a great time meeting his heros and rejoicing with friends.

I'm sure he'd consider it an honor to be remembered. He expanded our relationship with imagination. His body of work speaks of experimental relationship within the mind...outside of that which is only limited in potential by our willingness to believe. He would have made a fair living as a travel guide. Well, perhaps in another life...

Let us , not forget another great science fiction writer , who may or may not have read the UB , Frank Herbert . There is also the possibility that George Lucas might be a reader , maybe someone should ask him while he's still with us . O:) :?:
