I am not sure how accurate my opinions are on this matter, but from what I gather it seems to be for the most part a choice. Actually boom I tend to think it's not about choice. I don't think these people have the capacity to choose. They "do not exercise normal will power", they "ca...

I wanted to start a thread about all the quotes in the book that refer to a group of humans that are functioning below "normal" levels. I am curious as to what the authors opinion of "subnormal" is and just who fits into that. Interesting thread - thanks for posting it, boom. My...

I have read discussions as to whether my TA and your TA work together to minister our minds but I've read nothing in 40 years to make me think so. I was sure there was something in the Urantia Book to the effect that they do, but I can't find what I thought was there. So I've learnt something - tha...

A couple of interesting references about Jesus and miracles... 102:8.7 But religion is never enhanced by an appeal to the so-called miraculous. The quest for miracles is a harking back to the primitive religions of magic. True religion has nothing to do with alleged miracles, and never does revealed...

Thanks Gremlin - that makes sense. I got the sense from his interview that he is someone who likes parts of the u.b but not the whole thing. Oh ok, I know what you mean. I've known people like that. It goes hand in hand with claiming to accept lots of books/revelations, as you mention he admits to. ...

Hi all. I've often thought that it could have been to wait until a decade (or so) had passed after the end of the second world war. It's a similar amount of time now since 9/11, which gives us a pretty good idea of what that amount of time feels like. The dust settles a little. There are some very c...

I just came across an email from blogtalk radio "cosmic citizen" letting me know that this individual will be on their show this saturday. I have just been watching a few videos on his website and its kind of neat to see how he has integrated urantia concepts such as purpose, evolution an...

Just been rewatching the LOTR trilogy recently. Great movies! They've been claimed a lot by Christians as having strong Christian metaphors. But I've always felt that this is too much of a stretch. It seems that Tolkien was Christian but I doubt that he intended for the books to be Christian literat...

I think there's some obfuscation in the definition of miracles for one thing. The papers seem to imply that abridgement of time alone isn't a miracle (and thus the Master's decision to not employ miracles refers to not breaking laws of nature and abrogating space). I think the first "miracle&q...

Hi, I'm trying to reconcile Jesus' 5 decisions in Paper 136 regarding miracles with his later ministry. It seems like he decided against performing any miracles, apart from situations in which Jesus desired something to happen and had a lapse in time-consciousness (not sure what that means though), ...

Hi, just a common criticism that I hear about the Urantia Book, so I thought I would post here on skeptics' behalf. Why would God give us something so difficult to understand? Some people start reading the Urantia Book and find it completely inaccessible. Is it just for intellectuals? I don't see it...
