True! I went from a "soul saving" mission as a Jehovah's Witness to being so excited about having found the UB that I just had to share. It's just a shame when the feeling isn't mutual because you want the same life changing experience for those closest to you. I've accepted that for my wi...

I wouldn't expect anything less than a visit from 3 angels if I was going to chop off a delicate piece of me  Har! But it does bring a side question: What was that visit about? Probably should have its own thread. . Yeah interesting! Seems a little excessive to send angels to dispens...

(47:1.6) No ascending mortal can escape the experience of rearing children

Darn it!

44:1:10 Your ensembles of dancing undoubtedly represent a crude and grotesque attempt... No really, just say what you think, stop beating around the bush  What makes me laugh about some of the UB authors writing style is the extremely logical / matter of fact / left brain manner, similar to S...

There is a wide range of feelings and reactions one gets when reading the Urantia Book. The one I least expected though was to laugh. This line made me laugh: 44:1:10 (500.1) Your ensembles of dancing undoubtedly represent a crude and grotesque attempt of material creatures to approach the celestia...

The silver lining here for me is the sudden realisation (a flash of reality!) that one cannot put the cart before the horse. By that I mean almost leaving God out of the picture (neglecting real communion/peace with the adjuster) and trying to do things by your own will power. Too much self reliance...

For me, some of the information in TUB relating to science and history is powerful intellectual support of its authority. At the time the book was first printed, many things the authors state were either unknown to any scientist or conflict strongly with the understanding of the times. I'd have to ...

This is a very good fairy tale because it describes man very well. He is ready to sacrifice everything, but after all today's dinner is a different matter. A man always wishes to begin with something big. But this is impossible; there can be no choice, we must begin with the things of today. It's c...

I've experienced something similar, and it was quite painful too. However, I think I learned a different lesson from it. I realized that I was trying to accomplish something that would "make me selfless". What I realized is that you can't be selfless if you're thinking about being selfles...

I just wanted to briefly cover an aspect the UB warns about (specifically Jesus) from the angle of my personal experience. In fact, I wanted to bump an older thread someone mentioned that apparently was entitled "What does it mean: to be 'wise as serpents yet as harmless as doves"...but th...

I'd say that deep down my friend believes in these kinds of statements: (43.3) 2:7.10 The religious challenge of this age is to those farseeing and forward-looking men and women of spiritual insight who will dare to construct a new and appealing philosophy of living out of the enlarged and exquisite...

Good reminder. I often get carried away with the minutiae of a mechanical nature and forget what inspired that shift within me in the first place (i.e. reading the Jesus papers). So hard knowing what to do when someone is caught up in a "sign seeking" mindset. It's also hard to put myself...

Hahaha....no worries!! The UB describes the faith experience in ways I had never imagined. Lots of people on this world are having faith experiences and giving faith expressions to others as well! Indeed both faith and religious experience are so innate and natural and internally responsive t...
