Isn't it important to know the name of the Father?

You asked: Isn't it important to know the name of the Father? Since Satan may use his powers to pretend to be even the holiest, isn't it important to know who you are calling and praying to? The bible keeps on mentioning the importance of names.

Thanks so much for writing this note to us here at TruthBook. TruthBook.com is a website that is devoted to spreading the teachings of The Urantia Book; if you are a Bible student, you may find it to be the perfect addition to your spiritual searching and spiritual growth. The Urantia Book is not meant to replace the Bible; it is a modern revelation that in some ways parallels the Bible, but it stands alone as a beacon of truth for our 21st century world. It has been given to us at this time so that we may know God, his creation, the history of our world, Jesus, and ourselves much better. When we know better, we do better, so The Urantia Book helps us with that; it is designed to uplift mankind spiritually, one soul at a time.

It seems impossible to me for anyone who wishes to pray to God, to be somehow deceived into praying for an evil being such as Satan. God knows our thoughts and our desires; he knows our struggles and our aspirations; and he knows when we pray. He actually lives WITHIN our minds as a Divine guiding presence. So, if your one desire is to pray to God, that is where your prayers will be directed. The forces of evil are in no way equal to God.

Just as we have to desire to pray to God, we likewise would have to consciously desire to pray to Satan in order to call him to us. Our prayers cannot somehow be directed to an evil force unless we deliberately wish it. No spirit beings-good or evil-can override your free will. Even God waits for our call; he never forces us to love him or pray to him. So, I hope you can put those fears to rest. You are in control of your own mind, and you can best use that God-given mind to learn more about how God works with you all the time, keeping you safe.

The Urantia Book is designed to expand our knowledge of God and his creation; it reveals God as the Creator of not only our world (Urantia), but also of all the heavens and all the worlds that are out in the universe. It tells us how God is known and named on other planets, and why we on earth often call God by the name "Father."

Knowing to whom we pray is of course, very important. Relationship with God is very important. The Urantia Book tells us that what we call God is not as important as our sincere desire to know him. But, if you want to know more about the names of God, there is this specific section titled The Father's Name. In it we read:

1:1.5 On those worlds where a Paradise Son has lived a bestowal life, God is generally known by some name indicative of personal relationship, tender affection, and fatherly devotion. On your constellation headquarters God is referred to as the Universal Father, and on different planets in your local system of inhabited worlds he is variously known as the Father of Fathers, the Paradise Father, the Havona Father, and the Spirit Father. Those who know God through the revelations of the bestowals of the Paradise Sons [known to us as Jesus], eventually yield to the sentimental appeal of the touching relationship of the creature-Creator association and refer to God as "our Father."
On a planet of sex creatures, in a world where the impulses of parental emotion are inherent in the hearts of its intelligent beings, the term Father becomes a very expressive and appropriate name for the eternal God. He is best known, most universally acknowledged, on your planet, Urantia, by the name God. The name he is given is of little importance; the significant thing is that you should know him and aspire to be like him. Your prophets of old truly called him "the everlasting God" and referred to him as the one who "inhabits eternity."

I would recommend reading all of this very first chapter in The Urantia Book, titled The Universal Father. And from there, I hope you'll be interested enough to read even further about God, his nature, his attributes, his relationship to the universe, and his relationship to human beings.

And if you are still worried about Satan, Lucifer, and other evil beings, please be assured that when Jesus was here in the flesh, he defeated these beings, and saved our world from their control that day on Mt Hermon when he emerged victorious over the "great temptation."

All of the great stories are in The Urantia Book, and you might find these revelations very interesting and comforting. This is our real history. No more do we have to live in fear of demons and pretenders, for they have been defeated by Jesus. One - the one The Urantia Book calls "the devil" is still roaming the planet, but we have to deliberately call on him in order for him to have any real influence on our lives or our eternal destinies. He certainly cannot steal our prayers.

We have a very good search engine at TruthBook. With it, you can search the contents of The Urantia Book, and you can search the website itself for topics that interest you. For example, if you want to know what the book teaches about Satan, just go this link or look at the right upper corner of any TruthBook page and in the box that says "Search The Urantia Book only" type in the word and then click "Search."

In the upper box "Search this website only" you can type in the same word and you'll see any studies or pages on our site that relate to that word.

Knowledge is power, and armed with the knowledge in The Urantia Book, we can begin to orient ourselves and see ourselves in a broader and more complete context. We can discover ourselves as the liberated children of the Universal Father and go forth without fear.
