How can I think about God during the day?

Thanks for your note to us here at TruthBook...we are so glad you wrote. As you may know, TruthBook.com is devoted to spreading the teachings of The Urantia Book, and most especially the life and teachings of Jesus; so, my answer will be taken from those teachings.

You want to know how to think about God...as a Father? YES! As the one who is in everything? YES! And even more...but thinking is the first step! Contemplation of God and his goodness opens that door to experience with God and a better understanding of him.

101:1.3 The divine spirit makes contact with mortal man, not by feelings or emotions, but in the realm of the highest and most spiritualized thinking. It is your thoughts, not your feelings, that lead you Godward.
Jesus teaches:

155:6.13 When you once begin to find God in your soul, presently you will begin to discover him in other men's souls and eventually in all the creatures and creations of a mighty universe. But what chance does the Father have to appear as a God of supreme loyalties and divine ideals in the souls of men who give little or no time to the thoughtful contemplation of such eternal realities? While the mind is not the seat of the spiritual nature, it is indeed the gateway thereto.
So, you are certainly on the right track, wanting to know how to THINK about God...but don't stop there! We benefit from actually sharing our inner life with God - including him in every moment of our day until it becomes an automatic habit. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Again, Jesus offers us the best attitude to have when we want to approach God:

155:6.12 Many of your brethren have minds which accept the theory of God while they spiritually fail to realize the presence of God. And that is just the reason why I have so often taught you that the kingdom of heaven can best be realized by acquiring the spiritual attitude of a sincere child. It is not the mental immaturity of the child that I commend to you but rather the spiritual simplicity of such an easy-believing and fully-trusting little one. It is not so important that you should know about the fact of God as that you should increasingly grow in the ability to feel the presence of God.
If you are a student of The Urantia Book, you may know already that God is your most intimate and most ever-present friend. And this is one helpful way to think about God - as your Great Friend and the Father of your spirit-self. The Father actually lives within your mind and is available to you always - he is as close as a thought! He has given himself to be your life-long partner and to experience your life with you. It is this Presence of God that we all want to FEEL, once we KNOW about him...

We are meant to live our lives in relationship - relationship with God and with our fellows. When we cultivate that primary relationship with God and nurture it with good spiritual habits like meditation and contemplation, we begin to actually feel his presence and his love; further, we begin to desire to express the love that we receive from the Father and bestow it on others. This makes us happier and more productive. And then we begin to really experience the joy that can come from a God- knowing, God-centered life.

196:3.34 The great challenge to modern man is to achieve better communication with the divine Monitor that dwells within the human mind. Man's greatest adventure in the flesh consists in the well-balanced and sane effort to advance the borders of self- consciousness out through the dim realms of embryonic soul-consciousness in a wholehearted effort to reach the borderland of spirit-consciousness— contact with the divine presence. Such an experience constitutes God- consciousness, an experience mightily confirmative of the pre-existent truth of the religious experience of knowing God. Such spirit- consciousness is the equivalent of the knowledge of the actuality of sonship with God.
