World Peace—A Study of Concepts from The Urantia Book

10. Fulfilling Jesus' Gospel — The Growth of Ideals

Government is the evolutionary civilizer that shoulders the burden of arbiter for and protector of its citizens. Jesus' pacific teachings about retaliation and revenge apply to us as individuals and not to the purview of government.

Before lasting peace can be achieved the grip of secularism upon the nations of the world will have to be broken. World-wide change of such magnitude won't occur tommorow, next year, next decade, or perhaps even in the next few centuries. Until then there will be animosity and war(1), (2).

If we truly desire peace then, rather than simply opposing war, effective efforts must be directed toward projecting the message of the religion of Jesus throughout a world where even the concept of Jesus is often met with antagonism.
