The Mormon Jesus versus the Urantia Book’s Jesus
Mormonism, beginning in 1830, presents “another testament of Jesus Christ” via the Book of Mormon--a 'translated' account from ancient America. What of the Urantia Book? No person, religion or organization claims to have authored the Urantia Papers; rather, its various authors’ claim are of celestial origin to today's truthseeker. But, does the Urantia Book really reveal a hundred times more information than other Christian scripture, as Mormon himself had prophesied would be in that “greater record” to come?’
For certain, Jesus is the central figurehead and corner-stone of Mormonism, and of course all Christianity. So also, in the Urantia Book -- over 700 of its 2197 pages are attributed to a full accounting of the ‘full life and teachings of Jesus.’ Also, another 1000 pages are descriptive of the ‘universe’ of Jesus’ creation and its administration layout.
Mormon, who was a prophet of approximately 1600 years ago on the American continent, had this to say about the record that would bear his name:
“Wherefore, I chose these things, to finish my record upon them, which remainder of my record I shall take from the plates of Nephi; and I cannot write the hundredth part of the things of my people.” (Words of Mormon 1:5)
Mormon’s son, Moroni, who led Joseph Smith to the record of his ancient peoples, had this to say regarding their record:
“And whoso receives this record, and shall not condemn it because of the imperfections which are in it, the same shall know of greater things than these. Behold, I am Moroni; and were it possible, I would make all things known unto you.” (Mormon 8: 12)
Is the Urantia Book that "greater things?" It certainly can be considered a "hundred times" more information regarding God and his Universe, than does traditional holy scripture.
