Women’s Corps at Tiberias

Mary Magdalene

TIBERIAS, AD 29

A unique meeting was held on the Sabbath in the banquet hall of Herod Antipas’ new palace. The female evangelists of Jesus, the Women’s Corps, met under the direction of Joanna, the treasurer of the group. Joanna is the wife of Chuza, the steward of Herod Antipas. Jesus attended the meeting and later instructed the group in what he termed “superstitious beliefs and magic.”

The Women’s Evangelistic Corps now numbers twelve with the addition of Mary Magdalene and Rebecca, the daughter of Joseph of Arimathea. Magdalene was a surprise. She had been recruited from an infamous resort at Magdala. Questions about her reputation were brushed aside by Susanna, the daughter of a former Chazan and the leader of the Corps. “The doors of the kingdom are open to all, even those who have made mistakes. Mary Magdalene has proven to be a most effective teacher. She is our sister and a worthy daughter of the Most Highs.” Jesus could not be reached for comment since he is in conference with his new disciples. Jesus recently sent his original band of twelve into Galilee. They travel in pairs, two by two, and preach to the people autonomously.
