Jesus defiant, eludes Pharisees

JERUSALEM, OCTOBER, AD 29

On the final day of the feast of tabernacles, Jesus spoke boldly at the temple in both the morning service and in the evening. During a pause in the morning service, while the sacrifices were being prepared, the voice of Jesus rang out. He appealed to the pilgrims: “If any man thirst, let him come to me and drink. From the Father above I bring to this world the water of life.” Afterward, Jesus answered the questions of the multitude with great skill. The crowd was divided in their opinion, some believing Jesus is a prophet, others the Messiah. Some doubters pointed out that he is from Galilee, and the Scriptures declare the Messiah will come from the City of David. There was no attempt to silence or arrest Jesus.
